A Fabulous Saturday!

Last Saturday was a great day!  The weather was perfect (finally warm enough for short sleeves) and we took advantage of it.  Saturday at 11am was Carson's third birthday party at Candy Cane Park.  He had an awesome cake that looked like a dump truck, and we can't believe that Alisha made it from scratch!  Most of the party guests were Carson's friends from daycare, and we learned that one drawback to having a nanny is that your child might be the only kid at the party who doesn't feed himself.  Carson and his friends went at the pizza and ate full slices without a grown-up cutting it first.  When I told this to Jennifer later, she made me feel better by telling me that she still cuts Sam's pizza.

After the party, we went home for Cleveland Family Nap Time (1pm to 3pm ET on Saturdays and Sundays. PLEASE DON'T CALL DURING THIS TIME.  All of the Broker Clevelands are usually asleep!)  After naptime, we walked to the Metro and rode up to Bethesda to buy Charles a Size 3 soccer ball and shin guards.  Soccer at Turtle Park starts this week.  Charles and Andrew are very excited about their first soccer practice.  As you can see, we also brought party favors with us on our trip to Bethesda.

At the Metro, we searched for the speakers.  Charles always wants to know where the sound is coming from...

After a successful trip for soccer gear and an early dinner at Uncle Julio's (sorry, Guapo's!), we took the Metro back to Tenleytown and stopped off at the St. Columba's playground, where Charles climbed the rock wall all by himself.

We returned home as it was getting dark, and went to bed early.  A great day!

Easter 2009

Grandma Wendy came for Easter weekend and we had a great time.  There was plenty of cookie baking and easter egg dying to go around.  On Sunday, we headed out to the 'burbs to attend church with "Bubbaweeze" (Grandpa Bubba and Grandma (Lou)Weeze).  Charles was lukewarm on church, but he enjoyed the Easter Egg hunt at Bubbaweeze's house!

Becoming a Conversationalist

Charles said to me today, as we were sitting down to eat lunch, "Mommy, how's your work going?"

I said (without really thinking about it), "It's going well, Charles.  How's your work going?"

Charles replied, "I don't go to work."

"Oh," I said, "what do you do all day?"

"I play with Jenni and Andrew," he said.

Charles has learned that when you sit down to eat, you should ask those around you how work is going.    I guess this just shows how boring the conversation is at our dinner table every night.

Note to Self

Do not go near Charles while he is making chocolate cupcakes and you are in a suit on your way out the door to work.
