This is what I saw when I picked Charles up from school one day last week. Suddenly, it all made sense as to why he kept coming home with soaking wet (and sandy) socks, sneakers, and shorts. My theory now is that the teachers let them make all sorts of messes at the end of the day when they don't have to go back inside. The teachers must even help the kids, because I doubt that the kids are allowed to turn on the hose that floods the sandbox to create the "beach," and Charles told me that a teacher helped them put red paint in the water (not sure why blue wasn't the top choice, as I don't think that any of these kids have seen Jaws). No comment on the face down baby doll. It was beach week at school, not safety week.
Friday was the last day of school. We all gathered in the Great Hall to hear the kids sing some of their favorite songs from the school year. Afterwards, we had a picnic in the courtyard. Grandpa Bubba came, too. Here is a clip of one of the songs. I lose sight of Charles towards the end, but you can see him towards the bottom of the screen.
Sawyer is still a sleepy baby, but we know that it's not going to last much longer. Her brother continues to adore her, being very "helpful," as he is always telling us when he thinks she's tired, when she's hungry, and when she needs her binky. If he's feeling extra helpful, he will try to put the binky in her mouth, even when she's sleeping. Today's most humorous comment from Charles was spoken spontaneously while driving in the car. Charles declared that "Daddy is the boss of Mommy," and that "[he] is the boss of Sawyer." Clearly the little boy has a lot to learn. I'm sure that Sawyer will soon be running the whole family.
She loves her Star Wars Panda!
Definitely not the most attractive picture of Sawyer, but I wanted to show off her first dress!
